By the year 1989, there was a small paddy and chili processing unit belonged to the Kothalawala family at Thudugala Junction, Dodangoda, Sri Lanka. In fact, the business was carried out at a very small scale merely as a social service Mr. Aruna Kotalawala, being a young undergraduate in the faculty of science at the University of Colombo at that time understood that the business was running at a snail’s pace and decided to convert the same to a commercially viable venture.
